gen:report
A report — an evidence-bound account of a designated subject.
What it does
A report as the deliverable: an account of a designated subject that answers to evidence — findings tied to their sources, contested figures flagged as contested — produced and delivered as a durable artifact.
The registry's own words: A report as a deliverable: fidelity-bound prose that answers to evidence — findings stated against their sources, contested figures flagged as contested — produced as an artifact in its own form, not as prose in the reply. Minted in 3.9 under the deliverable test: a report can be checked against the evidence it cites, which no sibling kind can be.
Fire it — usage examples
“What happened with the deposit rules this year — full picture, sources shown.
gen:report”→ a report is researched, written to its evidence, and delivered as an artifact; the reply confirms it and where it lives.
“The market for used moving trucks in BC, as a report.
gen:rep”→ the findings rest on sources the report names; where sources disagree, the report says so.
Said aloud: “Lingo, generate report — the deposit rules.”
→ the report is produced and delivered as an artifact.
Spoken. Inside a marked span opened by the wake word “Lingo”, the spoken form is “generate report”. Dictated directives fire deliberately, never by accident.
What the agent actually does
The agent researches first and writes second: it gathers the material the findings will rest on, ties each finding to its source, flags contested figures as contested, then delivers the report as a durable artifact. Prose that does not answer to evidence is not this kind, whatever its shape.
The baseline procedure, its edge cases, and this directive's full guide live in the implementation guide: implementation/IMPLEMENTATION.md#cmd-gen-report ↗.
When the host can't
No generation capability for report on this host: disclose it plainly, never fake the evidence work, and never silently substitute reply prose or a bare document for the report. An unsourced summary presented as a report is a failed report.
Conformance — “done when”
A report is delivered as an artifact, its findings tied to sources in its own form — or the missing capability is disclosed.
Persistence class: content-write. Execution report in the reply: required. A user can test any of this by hand — fire the directive, then check the result against the store, the schedule, or the reply itself.
