gen:sheet

A spreadsheet — rows, columns, and formulas that compute.

Directive Shorthand 3.5 · Command explorer · Assembled from the canonical spec, registry, usage guide, and implementation guide — this page adds no meanings.

What it does

A spreadsheet as the deliverable: data in rows and columns, with formulas where the data calls for them — a computable artifact, not a table drawn in prose.

The registry's own words: A spreadsheet as a deliverable: data in rows and columns, with formulas where the data calls for them — a computable artifact, not a table drawn in prose.

Fire it — usage examples

“A budget sheet for the move — items, costs, a total that adds itself. gen:sheet”

→ a spreadsheet is delivered, its totals live formulas, ready to edit.

“The crew hours, as a sheet I can keep updating. gen:sh”

→ rows and columns you can compute in — a table pasted into the reply would not survive your next edit; the sheet does.

Said aloud: “Lingo, generate sheet — the move budget.”

→ the spreadsheet is produced and delivered.

Spoken. Inside a marked span opened by the wake word “Lingo”, the spoken form is “generate sheet”. Dictated directives fire deliberately, never by accident.

What the agent actually does

The agent builds the designated spreadsheet — structure, data, and formulas where the data calls for them — and delivers it as a spreadsheet artifact in an editable form. The formulas must actually compute: a sheet whose totals are typed-in numbers wearing a grid is a failed gen:sheet.

The baseline procedure, its edge cases, and this directive's full guide live in the implementation guide: implementation/IMPLEMENTATION.md#cmd-gen-sheet ↗.

When the host can't

No generation capability for sheet on this host: disclose it plainly, never fake a spreadsheet, and never silently substitute a table drawn in prose for one. A description of the spreadsheet is not the spreadsheet.

Conformance — “done when”

A computable spreadsheet is delivered as an artifact, or the missing capability is disclosed.

Persistence class: content-write. Execution report in the reply: required. A user can test any of this by hand — fire the directive, then check the result against the store, the schedule, or the reply itself.
