Forty-six directives — one per language: the forty most-spoken languages on Earth, plus the portfolio's footprint tongues. Every one a mode: the reply in that language, and anything made while the mode holds, in it too. All Level 2; new in 3.9.

What this domain governs
The language of the reply itself — and, while the mode holds, of every artifact commissioned under gen:. What it does not govern: the reply's form (re:), its measure (scale:), its voice within the language (style: — register lives there, in every tongue), the state behind it (mem:), or when work happens (sch:). It composes with every domain: re:show lang:esp is a visual answer, in Spanish.
Every token in this domain completes the same silent instruction — answer in the language of … — written in the specification, never typed by the user. The prefix names the thing the phrase governs; the name after the colon qualifies it.
The tongues
Forty-six languages, one mode. Pick a language — the reply is in it, and anything made while the mode holds is made in it too. lang:off returns to the conversation's own language.
The domain's rules
- Endonyms, ASCII-folded. Each command is the language's own name for itself, typed without accents or special letters:
lang:espanol,lang:francais,lang:deutsch. Canonical tokens are symbols, never translations. - A mode, like style:. A bare fire sets the language for this reply;
onmakes it sticky;lang:offclears it to the conversation's own language. State changes are persisted and confirmed like any mode. - The floor is three letters. Inside lang:, every two-letter string is a country or language code in the wider world, so no shortest form is two letters —
lang:esp, neverlang:es. The full endonym always works. - Honesty. A host that cannot actually produce a language says so plainly and answers in the conversation's language — fluency is never faked. Inside parentheses, a language is scoped to the bracket (the 3.9 grouping rule).
